My friend and I are going to a dance tomorrow night. I'm really excited just to dance with her and by myself - but something bad with a drunk boy happened a couple of weeks back, and I'm not up for having guys' hands on me yet. So, I want to tell guys no.

But it really has nothing to do with them - I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings or make them think I don't like them. I also feel like the real explanation is way too much information. Any thoughts on how to let a guy down as honestly nicely as possible?

Hmm. I'd really prefer to address the drunk boy issue - but that's not the question right now.

The most polite way to say to "no thank you" is precisely that. No thank you should be enough. It usually isn't however...

If you don't know the boy or don't care, a friendly smile and a kind, "Thanks, but perhaps another time" reply is fine. If he persists, insist that he respect your need to be by yourself.

If you do like the boy, maybe he's a pal or even the boy you have a secret crush on (this always happens when you're feeling low) then give him a really nice smile and say something like "It's so sweet of you to ask me to dance, but I'm just not feeling myself right now and I'd like to just dance by myself. But thank you anyway..." If he persists, tell him you'll tell him later when you're feeling more like yourself (it's a long story that I can't go into right now) - but do insist he respect your need to be by yourself.

If you don't like the boy - like the one you had an "incident" with, you can give him the "freeze" Give him a stern look and turn away. If he persists, alert a chaperone.

mayb u should just tell the guy that u just danced a lot and are really tired, make an excuse but make it sound very convincing otherwise they will think u really don't like them... or u could say u don't know how to dance....

If a guy asks you to dance during a slow song, just say that your feet are hurting right now.
If a guy asks to dance during a fast song. Just tell him, Im already dancing!

Simply put it just like that...."Due to a big jerk face guy; I don't really feel like dancing with guys tonight."

Perhaps you can offer that you don't mind sitting and talking about class or something. Maybe you just need a good guy to show you they aren't all jerk-faces.

Just explain to them you dont feel comfortable. Or you can always do a trick i guess you can say. Where a ring on your ring finger and when guys dance just say oh , im married and i dont my husband would like it.

Just tell him you are there to spend time with the girls. You can even add that you're flattered and say 'thanks but no thanks' or something to that effect... but overall don't be pushed into anything you don't want to do just because you don't feel there's a nice enough way of saying no.
If you have to, be a b*tch. seriously. if they don't take a simple no for an answer, tell them to back the f*ck off.
Anyway, have fun with your friend. :-)

Very simply say "Thanks very much, but no" or something along those lines. No explanation is necessary - UNLESS you turn a guy down and then turn around and dance with some other guy.

Well, if you really don't want to get asked to dance, then dress frumpy and don't wear any make-up. You are going to a dance, so if you are cute, I am sure that you will get asked to dance.

If someone does after all of that, tell them that you have a highly contageous skin fungus. Then if that doesn't work, just be a little rude and tell them no.

here is your sure fire way of avoiding any trouble, when they ask simply say my Boyfriend isn't here he is in another state and I promised i wouldn't dance with anyone but (insert friends name here). there is nothing they can combat with that if they are decent if they are assholes you tell um to get lost after that..
