respectful to other religion ad teaches tolerance , but that is the punishement of evil ppl in the afterlife and not now if u thought about it right!
The Qur'anic message with the People of the Book is a message of peace. Here is God's commands, which say what means:
*{Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of [your] religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.}* (Al-Mumtahanah 60:8)
5:69] Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the converts, and the Christians; any of them who (1) believe in GOD and (2) believe in the Last Day, and (3) lead a righteous life, have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.
the Qur’an does not teach us to hate them. Muslims are to treat Jews and Christians—indeed, all people—with respect, kindness, and justice while making their closest friends and allies among fellow Muslims.
ps: it is verse 4:56 and not 18!!!

In the past there was an uneasy truce. Under the Ottoman Turks Christians could practice their religion. Yet they were subject to periodic raids during which their young sons were taken from them, converted to Islam, and trained as Janissaries. Many Sephardic Jews were expelled from Christian Spain and settled in the Balkans. They were treated better there than they were by the European Christians.
If you study the history of western civilization, you will learn that Christians have not been the most tolerant of people, either. The Spanish Inquisition, the Thirty Years War, persecution of the Huguenots, the suppression of Catholics in England and in Ireland, etc, etc.
Can you square that with Matthew 5:43 "Love thy neighbor as thyself"?

Perhaps they are in a land where the majority of the population are Christians, or Jewish people. But try living as a proclaimed Christian in Iran. Then we will see how tolerant they are of other religions.
I have my doubts about their level of tolerance. Then again I have my doubts about the quote you've used for your question.
Not knowing that book "the koran" for all I know your quote could be taken out of context.

Muslims believe that their religion and teachings are right. Say for example you were a Christian - you probably would believe your religion was correct there is no right or wrong answer in this case. However, knowing that their religion is right and others are completely incorrect they are still respectful to them. I mean you would respect everyone elses religion knowing that they're bogus or whatever, but you wouldnt actually say that would you? (im not saying that any religion is bogus by the way...im just giving an example.) I hope you understand what i mean..i can't really put it into any clearer words.......

It's describing Hell and what non Muslims will go through. It will take you 70,000 years to hit the ground and during that time your skin will be burned off and then ALLAH will create a new skin on you so that you may suffer all your life in Hell. Also the water in Hell is very bad. When you drink it it will make your brain evaporate from the shear heat. Yes Islam is respectful of other religions.

First of all, this is talking about those who reject God completely since we believe that both Christianity and Judaism came from God but later became corrupt by the people.
Second of all, verse 4:18 does not say this. It says "Of no effect is the repentence of those who continue to do evil, until Death faces one of them, and he says,"Now I have repented indeed", nor of those who die rejecting Faith: for them We have prepared a punishment most grievious."
You really should learn not to take things out of context because I can take anything out of context and make it sound the way I want.

For purpose of coexistence, it would appear Islam can tolerate other religions. But it would not because of its teaching in the end. But in Jesus, he claims he is the only way to God. All other ways are wrong. For Christians, other religions are tolerated and accepted for practice as faith for others who wish to be non-Christians. But Islam, can tolerate other religions being practiced but would persecute those who are non believers.

Instead of giving an answer to your question you get to know what other religions do. People that don't believe in Allah, Quran, Mohammed and Hadith go to hell. Any Muslim murderer that says I'm sorry is in Paradise. Mother Theresa who believed in Jesus as the Son of God will have her skin taken off. That's justice à la Allah.

What do you mean
there are punishments for all religions.
In my religion class at my school (catholic school)
we learned that If you do not accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you will perish in the bottomless abyss of the hellfire
and be tortured.
We even watched a movie on it.
so stop pointing fingers.
