It's only human to feel that way but the thing is to not stay that way because you'll grow to be an old person living in a house with 27 cats. Never lose your capacity to love, terminate those feelings and volunteer your time to the homeless or some other organization. Stay true to yourself and keep the faith.

I don't know about for the rest of your life but I think that some people find it harder giving into love a second time around after experiencing a downfall in a relationship. Let's face not everything turns out as we would hope but life is full of unending learning experiences. It's okay to be cautious the second time around but sometimes I think that those people that stay away from love or shun love after a bad relationship are denying themselves the possibility for happiness. See eventhough it's okay to be wary about a new love, give it a try life is too short and we should take every chance to experience happiness (despite how scary heartbreak may be).

Yes. It will take time for you because you were abused. I went through some very terrible things too. I love and trust people but I have not dated in 11 years. I get asked out but I just can't, I also belong to God. Good luck, I know things are going to get better for you and you will be happy. Just the fact that you asked this question shows me you are on the road to recovery!

I don 't think that it will last your entire life but it will take time to learn to trust again. But you also have to be ready and willing to let someone get close to you again. It really sucks cause I'm going through it. I am much more careful and leary of people. You don't let anyone get close and if you think someone is getting to close you back away. Just takes time. I think eventually it will change.
