Well , after a few minutes your sense of smell should get accumulated to the stench and you will hardly notice it.

Oh wow, I had a situation like this not to long ago at the movies. The guy sitting next to me had the worst breath ever and some cheap cologne on, which literally was making me sick to my stomach. Note, we came in late so there were no other seats available. Any way, everytime he would laugh or make small comments during the movie, I would get a wind of his stank breathe come my way. I thought I was going to die. The way I handled it was lean on my boyfriend the whole time and covered my nose. I don't think there really is an appropriate way to tell someone they stink. I can't stand those type of situations though. Let's just say, I couldn't wait to get out that movie theatre.

If I have no reason to interact with them but for some reason I have to be near them for now, such as when we might be sitting next to one another on a crowded bus, I simply try to ignore it and focus on something else. I simply do not comment. It won't be my problem for long.
If, however, this is someone I know well, I might raise the issue in private. I will by no means say in a crowded room- "you know, you smell. When was the last time you bathed or brushed your teeth?" If I can save them later embarrassment, I may suggest, alone, that they go freshen up a bit before going anywhere else.

Sometimes you just can't pretend, lean away as far as possible and sit with your head resting on your hand where your hand can cover your nose without being too obvious.

I work with a young lady who has body odor, and instead of hurting her feelings, I always say it's hot and turn on the fan and point it towards the door to blow out the smell.

You just can't pretend. Turn your head away from them and change seats if possible.

Assuming they wont beat your brain to a pulp;politely ask them to bath better or put on some perfume or colone.

You can move or keep smelling it.
Just don't sniff the air and say, "What's that smell?"...if you want to pretend.
