um, they keep a scoreboard of their own, and call it the Rapture Index (they liken it to the Dow Jones, btw)..

The Bible says (not Christians) that there first be a tribulation period for 7 years the the millennial reign of Christ for 1000 years then the end will come.
Once the rapture occurs (if at all) or the tribulation begins, then it will be easy to figure. Now we are in the 'age of grace', we do not know how long it will last. Since Israel became a nation in 1948 speculation abounds. And rightly so-as this is a major event in world history.

About every year since about 35 CE. The Disciples were certain Jesus would return again a few years after his death. The Jehovah's Witnesses are always entertaining, they predict it every five years or so.
On the 2012 thing: the Mayans made an extremely sophisticated and accurate calender (it's actually more accurate than hours, losing only one day in a thousand years or something) charting thousands of years, which just suddenly ENDS in December 2012. Spooky, eh?

2012 was mentioned by the Mayans and by Merlin (of Welsh not King Arthur) and some other old chick. The "end of the world as we know it" comes in 2010 according to the Bible Code. It says something to the likes of: An otherworldly object will meet/touch/collide with the earth in 2010 and end the world as we know it.
So basically like uh... a meteor is gonna say, "Yo, what's up?" and then like we'll have 2 years of armageddon with the big Earth-Solar-Galaxy Allignment Polar Shift.
....yeah, sounds fun.

It is so often "predicted" because people are too HARDHEADED to realize they're NOT PRIVY to the knowledge pertaining to EXACTLY when He's returning. The Scripture says in part that "No man knoweth the day nor the hour......" Matthew 24:44 says, "Be ye therefore also ready for in such an hour as YE THINK NOT, the Son of man cometh."

It says in the bible that nobody knows the day of Christ's return, but that it will come "like a thief in the night". So if people are trying to predict the end of the world, they apparently are missing part of God's word. Which leads to the question, how can you be a christian if you do not know what the bible says?

It would be awesome! If you really want a good laugh, catch Jack Van Impe's late night show. It's on once a week, really late, like 2 am. He's claiming now that since cars can go really really fast and have powerful headlights, it means the end times are nigh. Besides, his wife Rexella is a freaking kook. It's really entertaining.

We must be glad that there are many predictions of end times by many people including the Christians. Their goodness is to warn you to prepare for the end times when it comes. Which kind of end times we would want to face is the issue? This can come any time, if you are prepared to face it or find an escape for it. The Christians have found an escape for it. They will be 'raptured'. They would not meet the end times on earth but would watch in heaven how the tribulations raging on the people who are left behind. To predict the exact time of this arrival is not possible, but to tell you to beware of the reign of Antichrist as this will usher in the end times is possible.

I find that interesting to.. Why do Christians use Ancient Mayan calendars for Christian prophecies? It makes no sense...
Furthermore... why is it so difficult for mankind in general to get past the fact that the mayans didn't feel like etching an infinite calander in stone, and that it doesn't mean that the whole bloody world will end?! Do these people flip over December on their own calendar's on New Year's Eve, then flip out screaming... "OH NO! NO MORE DAYS! ITS ALL OVER!!!!"?
PS... yes, Russia & Iran storming Israel WILL be funny. Because then the Jericho-II missiles will launch and the whole world will see the truth, that Israel has US WMDs.

Prediction is based upon observation...
We need to remember that prediction of the future is based upon observation and analysis of the past. People long ago had very few diversions and so were able to devote far greater mental resource to the science of prophecy than we do today. The biblical prophecies that came true were usually the most predictable in terms of analysis of the past. It's not spiritual to prophesy; it's scientific.
