A Buddhist is only someone who adheres uncompromisingly to the moral precepts set out by the Buddha. It doesn't have to entail a belief in karma or reincarnation.

Doing zazen (sitting practice). Simple.
If you don't do zazen, but read about Buddhism, then your a Buddhist Philosopher.
The important thing is to discipline the mind so that it can be free of its folly.
