Helllo, it is a hard decision to make, I was also pondering this question 5 and a half years ago. My husband and I already had two boys that at the time were almost 6 and 3. We did decide to try for a girl, However at 20 weeks of pregnancy we found out I was carrying Triplets (One of which was a girl)!! (No fertility involved) At that time I had made the decision that no matter what I would have my tubes tied because I could not bear going through that again especially if the end result was bad. Besides, we were now going from a 4 person family to a 7 person family!!!!After the triplets were born, healthy and happy, I did have my tubes tied! Sometimes I do miss the fact that I won't have any new babies of my own to cuddle and rock but on the other hand now that my children are 11, 8 , triplets are 5 We have new experiances everyday that come with them growing up. I also think that someday I will have lots of grandbabies to love, cuddle and rock!!! Good luck and whatever the decision you make will be the right one for you and your husband!!

My husband and I had our first child in January of 2003 (a girl). Our son was born in May of 2006. Before I got pregnant the first time, I tried several different kinds of birth control, and suffered horrible migraines the week before my period because of the hormones. I mean, HORRIBLE migraines. The only thing I could do was to stay in bed and wait for them to pass. No noise, no light, nothing. Sometimes I would get sick to my stomach from the migraine. So when we found out that we were having a boy, we made the decision to have my tubes tied. We would have a boy and a girl, and my husband only wanted two kids. I thought it would be a better way to go since I had such a hard time with birth control before. I just didn't want to go through all that again. I knew I would have to have a C-section when my son was born anyway, so they just did the tubal while they had me open. I wasn't in much pain (no more than I was with the first C-secion anyway). I had my doubts about doing it, because what if we changed our mind and wanted to have another? Now though, I feel great and I know that my two children are all I could ever want.

I decided to have my tubes tied because I didn't want to have any more children. My husband and I discussed it a lot and we both came to that decision. Now I think it was the worst mistake of my life. My 2 boys are now 8 and almost 5. I want another baby so bad it hurts. I've looked into having it reversed, but it's too costly and only a 50% chance of it actually working. I never got my daughter that I had always wanted. And to top it all off, I've had some serious health issues because of the tubal ligation. My doctor never told me the side effects or possibilities that have happened to me. Because of it all, I may now have to have a full hysterectomy. I've read about many women this has happened too. It's really not that unusual either. I now STILL have to take birth control pills everyday. All of this because I was too quick to think I was done.

My mom had her tubes tied. One of the reasons she did it was because she got severe depression each time she got pregnant and could not take the pill because it had the same affect. Of course she'd already had six children at that point (she did want a big family). It's a really personal decision, but if you're sure two is all that you want and you don't want to try for a boy or anything, then there is no reason not to.

My husband and I considered his having a vasectomy after our second child was born, but its so final. So we decided to wait for 3-4 years to make sure we did not want any more kids and then do the vasectomy. I would suggest that you have him get the operation instead of having your tubes tied as it is a much more complicated and expensive procedure for women

I havent had my tubes tied yet (I only have one child) but my mom had her tubes tied after her 3rd child. She got her tubes tied because her and dad didnt want anymore than 3. She had 2 girls first and was thinking about getting them tied but her and dad decided to try one more time for a boy. If it was a boy great if it was a girl, too bad the tubes are getting tied anyway. Luckily for her and dad she had my brother (unlucky for me and my sister though-little brothers are a pain : )

My husband & I decided for sterilization b/c we have 3 kids already, I'm 40, and I didn't want to be on birth control or become pregnant again at my age. My Dr. advised not to have my tubes tied unless I was absolutely positive, however, so do make sure that's what you want since it is not easy to reverse.

i suggest staying on birth control until you are absolutely positive that you don't want any more children. yes 2 may be a handful for you and it must be expensive, but maybe in 5, 10 years (depending on your age) you are financially doing much better and can afford a 3rd. you never know. but you have to understand that having your tubes tied is irreversible and it's not an easy process.

Not wanting children is a perfectly sane choice to make, doing something to avoid those unwanted children is commendable.
Its not wanting them and already having them, or continuing to make them that warrents rude remarks.
Should you two ever decide you want a larger family, there are thousands of children who need parents and dont have them, there are always options.
I want to have one more child from my body, the rest we want to adopt. I dont know that I would have my tubes tied, just because Iam not a fan of surgery, and it is just so very final.
However, my grandmother was 65 and still having periods, so, i might want something to make sure no suprises arise late in life :)

I would strongly suggest that you go to a Planned Parenthood Center nearest you, that you tell them exactly what you have been using until now and see what they have to suggest. A tubal ligation is a final step; it is not reversible, and I would be a little reluctant to suggest it. However, I would strongly suggest that you discuss it further in a session with a gynecologist or at a family-planning center so that you don't make a decision that you might always regret.
your husband might do a vasectomy. It's a decision that only you and your husband has to take.
good luck
cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
