I'd say that almost any state will have some robots used in some type of manufacturing. We built many robots even in the 80s that were used in painting and welding plants and pick and place that were used in assembly of electronics, and we were not a huge plant ourselves (but we were rather ahead of the curve). Most manufacturing robots have waist, shoulder, elbow and wrist motions only (they are fixed in position on a base), but they can swing 10 kilos over an arc of a couple of meters at hundreds of cm per minute and repeat locations within .05mm all day and night and seldom take a bathroom break.
