It's something to be taken extremely seriously and should not be on the same level as dating. Marriage is meant to be a sacred love bond that lasts forever until you die, not just something you can quit when you're tired. And it is something only to be had with a man and a woman. Perverted America, unfortunately, gets marriage all wrong

It means that I'll vow to be that persons mate for life, with the exception of serious "sins" by the other mate; trying to kill me, infidelity, etc.
Unfortunately for our present society, many people think it means "until I don't feel like it anymore, or until I've spotted a better catch".
I wish it were a legal contract, with legal repercussions when someone broke the contract. Maybe then people would take it more seriously.

It is a committment of the heart, and the piece of paper (marriage certificate) is just that - paper. One person can destroy the marriage, so two people have to make it work.

It means we've found our other half, that person in life that counters my weakness into strength. My ring mate who I'll forever cheer and guide through each of his fights and struggles through life. It means knowing without a doubt your best interest is as equal in his heart as his own. Knowing that we can both at times see and appreciate beautiful people in this world without fantasizing of sexual encounters because the thought of sharing our bed with anyone but is repulsive. Hurting when your love hurts and feeling completely helpless when you can't take the pain away.
Feeling your most content in life while watching your spouse genuinely smile. Still getting butterflies after many years of being together. Staying together not because your bound by paper but because you chose to stay. Sex is never taboo or dirty because you know your mate truly respects you and that your bodies are SACRED to each other. Best of all..the security of knowing that only death will take your partner from you but even death could never kill your love. I know... sounds mushy but... 10 years and going strong and I LOVE my husband like crazy!!!! :)

i define marriage to be devine sacramony. i have to be truely in love in order to get married. i has to be someone i can live through good and bad times with. someone i can argue with and still want to come home to. someone who loves being around me and spending time with me and my child. it has to be a person that i just long for when we are not apart. it has to be a give and take relationship. not with a peron because of what they can give you but honestly because you love and adore them. someone that you can not doubt that you can relie on and they have to love children. i know its alot to ask for but it would be the perfect marriage. i would expect it to be down times as well as good but the good has to outway the bad. but it would be somewaht of a struggle. im not sure if i answered your question but thats what the perfect marriage means to me

It's not something you get to define - it's already defined. However you can make your marriage whatever you want it to be.

A piece of paper that means you share some property and assets. I think. It means you told the "world" that you love this woman/man and that you are willing to share the great union of your love to God.
