Whoa!

Most museums in Washington DC are run by the Smithsonian Instituation and are FREE! There are a few others that do charge an admission fee, including:

Part of the Holocaust Museum (requires a timed ticket--small fee if booked in advanced, limited number at the door)
National Spy Museum
Philips Art Gallery (I think)
Corchoran Art Gallery (I think)

but the biggies, Air and Space, National Gallery, Natural History, American History, etc are all free.

There is no entrance fee to get into the Holocaust Museum. Most of the Museums in Washington are free. That is what makes them so great. To control crowds a lot of popular exhibits have been offering timed entry tickets most of them do not carry a charge for this.

The holocaust museum is really worth the visit. I believe the timed passes are free, but you need to get there early. I would not take a young child to the exhibit. My 16 year old was very affected by the museum. The website recommends 11 as the minimum age. Check out the website below.

The Holocaust Museum is free. Be there early, there are long lines. You may be inside the museum for 2 hours is big and sad ( for the stories)

I'm not sure about particular, individual museum, but usually they do cost money. Maybe a donation box...or an entrance fee.

the person before me is right! but bring a student id for a possible discount! and find out about getting your parking validated if you're driving in.. take LOTS of pictures. be camera ready! haha and if you use a flash in pics.. it kinda makes the wax look shinier... so don't use it whenever you have good lighting in the room!
