Probably because of that last bit there. For some reason, love and torture dun really work out well together. I mean, in Shinto, all the gods care for you, and the only way you're going to the underworld is if you killed someone, raped someone, etc. The things a man truly deserves to be sent to an abyss for. <.<; Then again, that's my point of view. But then, does that make all Christians BDSM? o.o; I mean, Catholics are, definitely, masochists, what with the whole "sin from birth" thing. But that's interesting.....

Replace "God" with let's say, oh the name "Hector". Then re-read.

Hector loves me and will torture me forever if I don't accept them. That sounds like a country song gone bad. Or, gee domestic violence. When you make ridiculous statement like that people scoff at your God.

It's not a good idea, if your trying to show that your God is great, to use the words "love" and "torture" in the same sentence.

[insert backlash]

Quite simply because atheists have no belief in a God. You can't force that on them, and bribing them with Heaven is not going to encourage them to flock over.

You might believe that God loves them, but they certainly don't. Your God would torture them for being non-believers, but in Atheism there is no concept of God (thats the general point). Since there is no concept they wouldn't be afraid of an eternity in Hell. To us, its fiction and fairy tales.

Sounds like you have a fairness issue with God. Concepts such as fairness, justice, righteousness, good and evil are meaningless if there were no God. If God doesn't exist then why would you find fault with His Justice (or your misunderstanding of it) as if what He were doing was somehow wrong?

God provides a way of redemption through His Son, Jesus, who will take our judgment upon Himself if we will stop shaking our fist at Him and turn back to Him.

"It's not God's will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Oh, so now you blackmail people to get them to believe in god?
I doubt he loves me if he's willing to torture me, to be honest.

Like the internets, atheism was predicted by the Lord Our God in the back of the Bible somewhere. Satan has obviously blinded atheists - also predicted.

Because if you torture someone, then you never truly loved them to begin with. You are just on a nasty power trip.
