Almost any museum is free, except for the Spy Museum which is pretty pricy. My favorites are the American History Museum (which, unfortunately, is under renovations till '08), the zoo, and the Natural History Museum. I also love the green house, which is amazing, and I think almost anybody would like.
I hope that you have a good time, D.C. can be such a fun place.

The National Zoo, in particular the pandas. Tai Shan is just a year and a half old, the first successful mating at the National Zoo. He was supposed to go to China to live at two years old, but his "lease" has been extended until September. He may be leaving after that, so don't miss him. His mom, Mei Xiang, and dad, Tian Tian, are there, too.
I was there in January and couldn't tear myself away from them for several hours.
