My mom is retired and she loves cats. She would like to have something to do and would like to become a cat breeder. How could she become a registered breeder? Because she is new to this please provide detailed steps. She likes persian, british shorthair, and exotic. Which breed is easier for her to start? Please answer EXACTLY what the questions asked. Thanks.

Go with her to a cat show & talk to the exhibitors.
You need to find a breeder that will allow her to purchase a show quality female and a good breeder will probably insist the queen is shown to her championship prior to being allowed to breed.
Shorthaired cats are easier to keep in show condition and you may see breeds at the show that appeal more when you actually get to meet the cats in the fur.
You also have to consider the availability of a suitable stud in your chosen breed as your Mom will not want to keep an entire male.
Join the local cat club & talk to people. There is always help available for people who are willing to do things the right way.

Good luck.

She would have to learn everything about the breed that she wants to breed and probably get a mentor to teach her the ins and outs.

DON'T!!! There are already too many unwanted animals, at least one quarter of which are purebred. If she wants to work with cats, have her volenteer at an animal shelter or local Humane Society.
