There seems to be an lot of fatties at church these days. Will obese Christians go to hell? Should all Church services be done on a treadmill?

There are sins of omission, and, sins of commission. Over eating does seem to be a fact of life in a nation with so much plenty and abundance. If you are serious about your question, consider this. The average meal at about any fast food outlet provides has portions that are nearly three times what the intake for a proper meal should contain. That doesn't even take into account all the calories that a soda or a shake contain. Over eating is indeed a sin of commission, and yet, until recently little has been done to limit the food that is available, or, its nutritional value. But, like all sin, it is a personal issue, between you and God. As for sins of omission, they have their own problems. Not exercising, not eating good foods, not limiting portion sizes and so forth, are some of the things that we omit from our lives. Life style sins such as these are not only a barrier to good health, they are barriers to good relationships, a healthy self-esteem and many other difficulties in life. Do Christian's pave a pathway to hell made of beef patties. No. When we accept Christ, all sins are forgiven, and we are spiritually made anew. That doesn't mean that we are instandly infused with the wisdom, will power or desire to make many of the changes that we should for our bodies. But, when we stand before God, to account for how we lived for Him, we can be sure he'll want to know why. I do agree, somewhat, with your comment, "Should all Church Services be done on a treadmill?". I think that womens and mens studies can be blended with exercise and nutrition programs very effectively, and, still meet the spiritual needs of these groups. I do believe that a healthy and fit congregation, is more likely to be attractive to outsiders. A fitness center partnered with every church, is a great idea. Whether it is church run, or, the church seek an affiliation with an already established center, the results would be the same. Lastly, an instructional program that touts the physical benefits of healthy eating, coupled with biblical principles regarding caring for our bodies, is a wonderful idea. You might consider doing some research into a program, and, starting one in your church. It is a wonderful way for you to demonstrate your concern and love for the entire congregation.

Good luck, and God Bless

Why do people always go from "Is .... a sin" to "Will .... go to hell"?
Yes, gluttony and sloth are sins.
Obese people are not all gluttons and slothful.
Whe I was gluttonous, I couldn't get myself over 135 pounds. Now that I am not so gluttonous, I am struggling to get down from 175 pounds. So a lot of it has to do with the way our bodies work.
Gluttonous Christians will not go to hell. Neither will Christians who smile (a form of gluttony) or who have shares in companies that abuse the workers in poor countries (thinking of textile companies). But they will have to answer to God about it.

Its only a sin if you can't justify being fat (thyroid problems) what a crock. You fat christians will burn and it will smell great all the way up to heaven. Then me and satan will feast on some ribs and thighs for eternity.

God doesn't change. Therefore, His laws do not change. What was unacceptable to God thousands of years ago is unacceptable to God today. Sin is sin.

the seven deadly sins are not really sins, but they lead to sinful behavior, if you do not control yourself
