As the other answers said: No.
BUT, if you want to get a fireplace that doesn't require a chimney and creates real flames you can get a gel fuel unit. I have owned two of them and enjoy them a lot. They have fake logs with a slot in them where you place cans of jellied alcohol fuel (like the Sterno people used to use for camping or heating fondue dishes.) It burns without smoke and makes flames, warms the room and makes a nice crackling noise. A whole fireplace costs between $300 and $800 depending on size and style. The fuel cans are a little expensive but you can sometimes find the gel in jugs at places like Home Depot and refill the cans cheaply.
There are a lot of manufucturers (just Google "gel fuel fireplace".)

NO. The appearance of flames in electric fireplaces comes from special lights and in some cases mirrors. Most electric fdireplaces can produce some heat and only need a standard 110v plug to operate.

No, they don't. You could think of them as being electric space heaters dolled up to look like logs on a fire. Depending on the model, you can get a "realistic flame effect", but that's just tricks with lights rather than actual flames.

No. They put out heat like a real fireplace, but the flames are "decorative". Looks realistic. You can go to lowe's, home depot, or any home improvement store to see them in action.

Nope.
Some may produce heat, but no flames.
That is why they are smokeless and don't need chimneys.
