My suggestion would be a comedy. The guy would occasionally turn to you and maybe talk to you to see if you are laughing or having a good time. Also, the both of you could talk and laugh about it later.
Don't watch action movies like James Bond, he will most likely pay more attention to the movie that to you.
Horror is taboo, unless the the two of you plan on hugging each other when y'all get scared.
Lastly, the guy would be likely to get bored from Drama and Romance movies.

If he's like most guys, he's only tolerating romances because it's a time to snuggle up with you. That's why they're called "girlie" flicks.
If you wanna watch something HE will like: action/adventure, comedy, horror, sci-fi... basically something he's into.
If you wanna watch something YOU like: don't bother asking us :)

"The Sweetest Thing" is a great comedy / romantic movie. I bet you guys will love it!
