If you go through a used car dealership, make sure they give you service records, accidents, any and all repairs done on the auto. If you buy through the owner get the same documentation. Be picky!

I would say that you can get a 97 or a 98 Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. You cannot go wrong quality-wise with either. As someone mentioned before, run a Carfax on anything you buy. Good luck
