Fighters, no!

Interceptor, yes, the MiG-25 Foxbat can exceed 2000 mph at altitude

Lot of interesting claims below and sadly way off topic. The F-15 is the fastest FIGHTER in the USAF and its speed isnt "classified", and since speed is not that crucial in combat why classify it? Besides, why would the USAF make all that airspeed record attempts in full view of the world?

Regarding supercruise, both MiG-25 and 31 can supercruise and are in service, so can the Typhoon and an Israeli version of the Phantom. Its 1954 "technology", no big deal.

And in what dreams did the F-15 have a 4:1 advantage in over the Su-37 ?

So the answer again, the MiG-25 Foxbat is the only combat aircraft that can go beyond 2,000 miles per hour.

Yes, the f-15 and mig-25 and 31 can, but only in bursts.
Being able to go that speed is so useless in modern combat, that new fighters can barely do half of that.
The f-22 flies at mach 1.6, but can for over 500 miles to a target, patrol for a significant time, and then cruise back 500 miles.
The F-22 is the only fighter in service that can cruise faster than mach 1 without afterburners, and has the fastest cruise of any fighter ever.
Its speed allows it to have an instant advantage in any combat situation, whereas any other fighter in the world would take at least a minute and a half to accelerate from cruise to mach 1.6.
In simulated dogfights, the f-15, which has a kill ratio of over 100 to 0 losses, lost miserably to the f-22. It took over 12 f-15's to shoot down a single f-22 out of two they were facing.
To put it in perspective, the f-15 had a 4 to 1 kill ratio against the russians newest SU-37 fighter in simulated combat.

As far as I know, only two aircraft are capable of that kind of speed. The MiG-25, and the SR-71 Blackbird.

The MiG-25 could be considered a fighter, but it's not very manoeuvrable and I'm not sure if it's in service in many places any more. The SR-71 is the fastest, highest flying air breathing aircraft in the world, but it is a reconnaissance aircraft and is unarmed.

As far as "super cruise", the only plane currently in service anywhere that can do it is the F-22 Raptor. Super cruise is the act of flying at supersonic speeds with out the use of afterburners, making it much more efficient than previous aircraft.

a lot more than you would think... actual performance data is not all that 'public', but for practical matters, the actual airspeed is a secondary concern for fighters, the armament and defense/stealth capacity exceed in importance.

former F-15c jock, and yeah, better than 'that fast'
