Check the type of DVD drive you are using. You may have a DVD+r drive and not a multimode drive i.e +r -r. To burn -r disks you should use a -r drive or multimode drive.

Also some 4 x DVD writers do not like 8x discs and fail when the calibration track is burnt at the start of the write process.

I had that problem and once I used 4x discs everything was fine.

Sometimes we get confusing, generic messages. If you purchased the CDs, they are not illegal.

Is the burner and its powering software legal? Did you get Nero from a friend? In that case, Nero probably won't work on your PC.

Programs are getting more sophisticated and adding more security measures to ensure we don't use pirated software.

perhaps your stress has some dirt on the lens or perhaps it has failed. perhaps the batch of disks are duds? you may get a lens purifier disk it fairly is have been given a splash brush on it to get the dirt for some money. it fairly is below $50 to interchange a DVD burner, get a sparkling one! good success!

I have never heard of DVD-R's being unburnable (unless they are full) let alone illegal it sounds more like your copy of Nero is the problem
