You could be fighting an infection or it could be something major. I would head to the doctor for a check.

Take this as only a partial list of possibilities, but generally most enlarged lymph nodes found in the inguinal area (which is the area where the lower extremities meet the trunk in the pelvis and which is the area I'm assuming you're referring to here) are due primarily to infection, cancer, or nothing at all. I believe most are infectious, but I cannot recall the exact distribution. It also of course depends a lot on your sexual history, the duration of time in which the nodes have been swollen, and other signs and symptoms. Thankfully most of the time an appropriate diagnosis can be found with a few not-entirely-too-invasive tests and a physical examination. Although as another poster has stated they can sometimes mean nothing, they can also sometimes mean a whole lot and so should generally not be ignored.

By the way, although relatively uncommon, one infectious source that presents primarily with swollen nodes is lymphogranuloma venerum which you can conveniently learn a fair amount about here:

Don't know about men cuz I'm a woman but my doc noticed a swollen lymph node right where the top of my thigh meets the private area and was pretty concerned about it. She sent me for some bloodwork to rule out anything such as cancer and then she told me that they are probably just prominent because I'm thin.
