This may sound a bit strange . . . but I swear by it. I have really thick, curly hair, and here's what a salon owner told me to do years ago; I've been doing it once a week ever since:

Before you get into the shower, take your bathroom cup (or any cup - preferably something non-breakable as you don't want shards of glass or porcelain in your shower), and add about a quarter-cup of baking soda. After you put shampoo in your hair and it's all lathery, add water to the cup of baking soda - DO NOT RINSE SHAMPOO OUT YET - mix (like with the end of your razor or toothbrush), and immediately pour over shampooed hair (the baking soda will settle to the bottom fast, so pour on your hair right away). Work the mixture in slightly, and rinse.

As you rinse, you'll feel all of the styling products that were stuck in your hair slide right off; you'll be left with squeaky clean hair! It is important to put a light conditioner in your hair afterward, even if you normally don't do so.

Try it - this really works and is a no-cost way to clean out the product every once in a while. I swear it's what keeps me with shiny and healthy hair.

Good Luck!

Go to a salon get a treatment which is called "hair stripper" and this costs around 2-3 quid. Its a shampoo treatment which strips the hair but to no concern as conditions hair also. Or look on the internet a L'anza product which is a hair stripper and is excellent

there is a shampoo that neutrogena makes that you could try changing to for a week or so. depending on the type of hair you have lemon juice or vinegar might help. I do not work for neutrogena but it worked for me when I had a problem like that a year or so back. Also maybe that volume stuff your using is not right for your hair, maybe try something that is more natural like avada product and I know there are some more natural based products out there.

Use about 1/4 cup baking soda to 8 oz water (approx) before you wet your hair rub this mixture into your hair. After you've done that, wet your hair and shampoo as usual. The baking soda is a very mild abrasive that will help loosen the build up and the shampoo will then wash away the residue.

50/50 mix of vinegar and water. It would not get extra organic than that. :) This works for any variety of product strengthen in you hair. in simple terms mixture it in a spay bottle. or in simple terms pour it on your hair. i've got used this interior the salon for years and it works extra effective than any synthetic strengthen remover obtainable! BTW. there is rarely a reason to apply oil based products on your hair

When i want really clean hair i use l part apple cider vinegar with one part hydrogen peroxide mixed with l0 parts water. Wet hair and pour that over hair and let it stay for a minute or two, then shampoo like regular. It puts your ph back in balance.

You can also add couple spoons of baking soda to your shampoo and message it in your wet hair and you will be able to tell a difference

Most claryfiying shampoos will work. Neutrogena has a great shampoo that removes build up and residue.

Use something like silver expressions (its in a purple bottle ... don't remember the company) or something that brightens gray hair... it will take the residue off...just use it like once a week.
I do and it really works great even tho I don't have gray hair.
