If you have a realy good food processor or even a pestal (thouhg it will take alot of work) you can turn those peanuts into peanut butter.

When you finely grind peanuts (like if you were trying to powder them) the oil in the peanuts will cause it to become sticky instead of powdery - peanut butter. If it comes out too dry, you can add a little vegi oil to it.

The taste and texture may be a little different (as many peanut butters you find at the store will have different amounts of oil added and preservatives), so try it out ith a small batch (say 1/2 or even 1/4 batch). You may even find that you like it this way better.

This reminds me of a little song my grandma taught me:

A peanut sat on a railroad track, his heart was all a flutter.
Along came a choo-choo train. TOOT! TOOT! Peanut Butter.

Happy bakeing!

No, you'd just have butter cookies with peanuts -- not the same thing.

You can make your own peanut butter, though. Just throw peanuts in a food processor (or small batches of peanuts in a blender) and whip them up, creamy. Add a pinch of salt, and maybe a pinch of sugar while you are blending it, so it tastes like your favorite peanut butter.

It will be a completly different cookie. Regular peanuts do not have sugar in them like peanut butter does.
Make cocolate chip cookies and instead of chocolate chips use peanuts. I think the flavor here will be better.

Not unless you make peanut butter with them first. Besides, they didn't take ALL peanut butter off the shelf. Only the brands with "issues". Use Skippy.

No. That's like "can I use raisins instead of grape jelly." Not the same.

If you want to make your own PB, you can. The texture will not be as creamy, so you may not (or may!) like the result. Making PB is not simply grinding the peanuts. You need to slowly add a little extra peanut oil as you bring. Plus, commercial PB has sugar added.
