Short Answer: NO.
Long Answer: if the dog food is manufactured in the U.S., and says so on the bag or can, then you can bring it in to the U.S. if this is the case, for good measure take it unopened. Otherwise, no, it will be confiscated, as will rawhide chew toys, dog treats, and the like.

As far as taking your dog over the border, no problem at all, just have a valid rabies certification with you.

I would recommend getting a referral from your vet for a vet in the U.S. that you can stop and get the same or similar food.

Good Luck and have fun!

You can't take the dog, unless you've got the proof of all the innoculations (rabies, distemper, adenovirus, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, coronavirus, bordatella, and lyme disease) in the last 6 months - and none are overdue.

You also can't take the dog food - especially if it's beef or vegetable based.

Dog should be licensed and tagged (from your home town); it would be a good idea to have him/her 'chipped', so if it disappears there's a chance you could find it again.

You're not supposed to be carrying 'raw' plant or animal products into the other country (in either direction) ... although they don't seem to work that hard at recognizing it at the border crossings when you drive across.
