Layering photos??

Question

I have pixia and I want to have a black and white photo with a little color, I can't figure out how to do it with this program. If you used this program can you tell me how to do it. Thanks.

I don't use pixia, but here are the basics.
Open the pic. Copy it to a new layer. Convert the top layer to black and white, set opacity at 50%, and colour in the areas you want coloured using bottom layer as a guide.

There are other ways too, but this is the one I like to use.
