Nice question....
I guess it has to do with my inner feelings of justice. Like a heroin addict mom who has a baby that's born a heroin addict - the child goes through extreme trauma it's whole youth only to most likely die from difficulties or murder at an extremely young age. I don't see this as fair or just...
with my beliefs, I can have a hope for such a child- that this life isn't all there is. That even though they were born with no one watching out for them, that there is still someone on their side that will and can make up for what this child has been through. I'm sure that there are many examples possible, this was just the first one that popped up to my mind...but honestly, that's what it is for me - justice, or quite possibly, divine justice.

It doesn't really bother me now and I really don't know how I will feel after I become nonexistent. What would lead you to believe that it would bother a majority of people?
What does bother me is the hurt it will cause the people I love and who love me when it comes time for me to be nonexistent.

Nonexistence Before my birth didn't bother me 'cause I wasn't around to BE bothered! Hello?

And, it won't trouble me after my death for the same reason.

Logic and Philosophy are not your strong suit!

Nice question. it bothers me because that would mean that this is all you get. well this is not enough for me I would like at least a little part of me to live on forever! pluse if we all have the say fate as everyone else without any sort of trail or punishment for what bad that some people cause then that would be really hard to deal with. I mean Hitler just can't have the same fate as Mahatma Gandhi or Mother Teresa. That kind of thinking will keep you up at night.

When my cousin was giving birth she went through a very difficult labor with a lot of pain. At one point she felt no more pains and saw herself rising and leaving the hospital. She got an urge and returned to her bed. She then felt the pain again and heard shouts and jubilations from the doctor and nurses with shouts of "she's back!!!"

To me that is proof there is an afterlife. You want to call me or my cousin a liar go ahead. You want to say it was just a dream. That is your choice (although the doctors confirmed that she was clinically dead for a while)

But remember if there there is a god and afterlife, according to the bible you will have to account for you life on earth. If you want to be cocky and believe there is not god because you are incapable of being wrong, that is your choice.

Does it bother me?? That's news to me.. I'm a buddhist so I think ultimately there's non-existance in duality with existance at all times- we've always existed, yet we have never existed. ;)

Only the wrongdoers should fear the future, as they have it all to come back on them.

I suggest you focus on perfecting the present moment, as it is the only thing which can be changed and truely known. The future remains forever unwritten- only existing as speculation, and the past is gone forever- only existing as memories. What will you do when the specuation and memories come to an end??

It jjust bums me out I won't be alive, I'd prefer to live a whole lot longer and explore the universe

That being said, it doesn't trouble me enough to just believe in a god I cannot prove exists

It's all psychological. People fear what they do not know even when coming to the realization that they did not exist (in this conscientiousness) before this. We are taught or shown fear of death or the unknown. Not all are afraid, but you are right that many are.

Because that is the only thing we hold on to, The promise that the turmoil we face now will be the reason we have a greater life after death.

I have to make sure the right person gets my car when I go...other than that, I could care less...

...or at least that is part of the prevailing attitude, me thinks. People get caught up with what they have in this existence and seem to forget that we came from nothing...go to nothing...so what have we really lost? Nothing.
