Thomas actually touched Jesus' physical immortal body. We will be changed to be like Him.
"For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory." I Corinthians 15:53-54

Those who are resurrected to eternal life on earth will.
Matthew 5:5; Psalm 37:9-11, 29.
Isaiah 35:5, 6; 65:20-24
Those resurrected to life in heaven will have spirit bodies, according to 1 Corinthians 15:42-49; Romans 8:29; 1 John 3:2.

In reference to the idea that we would be resurrected on earth after this whole rapture thing....
Think about the startling number of christians that have lived on the earth in the past. If the only requirement to be resurrected was to believe in jesus, don't you think the world would be a little crowded? That would be well over twice the amount of people that are on the planet now... goodbye beautiful forests and nature, hello crap-ton of people.
Course, thats even assuming that there is a god, and that christianity is the right religion (which I don't believe it is, In fact i'm positive modern christianity is wrong).

Our next intermediate place of rest or anguish will be in the spirit world, depending upon the merits of the individual in this mortal life.
When Christ comes again and sets in place the resurrection of mortal body and spirit we will then possess the same body that we had in mortality. But it will be perfected and immortal, a body of flesh and bone that we will have for the eternities.
While in the spirit world, however, we will appear to others as we do now, but we will not eat, drink, or sleep. Depending on our assignment in this temporary abode, we have only to think it and we will be able to witness the creation, see a particular city, an important event in mankind, and so forth.
Upon our resurrection we will then stand before the Judgment seat of Jesus Christ and then will we know our ultimate assignment, either in one of the three heavenly glories or to Outer Darkness, or hell.

Obviously, a spiritual body is different from the physical one. If by 'afterlife' you mean after all have resurrected - then quite obviously we will have spiritual bodies, and no those are not physical bodies and they are different from them.

According to Christian beliefs, the only time ppl will have physical bodies in Heaven is during Rapture, when jesus comes back and takes all the "true christians" to heaven with him.

You'll have the illusion of a physical body. Enlightenment is the only true reality- the "afterlife" is whatever you imagine it to be.
