I have also been successfully using Visual Basic 3.0 for several years and now it seems that Visual Basic 3.0 is not compatible with Windows XP. Microsoft does not have an answer other than I purchase updated programming materials.
Is there an update from VB or other source I can use to make my system work?

ummmm, welcome to the 21 century.

You have waited to long to upgrade and now your going to have to pay the price in new software.

You will save a LOT OF MONEY in the long run if you just upgrade.( new computer) The way things change with computers any machine that is used for business and is over 4 years old is probably not going to be able to run the software properly.

Keep in mind, You Get what You Pay For. and believe me you do pay in frustration and limited usability with "freeware".

We don't need some evenglist to churn out unrelated links.

VB 3.0 is indeed old; if memory serves it is 16-bit; I believe there are few versions of free VB RAD of more recent versions; but if you are a commercial programmer consider them trial versions. Full VB RAD still costs, a lot.

I have no old stuff like VB 3 but I recall it worked with Windows NT; Microsoft refuse to give answer does not mean VB 3 is just not compatible. By the way there is no VB on Linux, the closest is Kylix and it is based on Delphi Pascal.

We do not need to be held in bondage by Microsoft. Set yourself free - get UBUNTU. Once you have it installed you gain access to thousands of free programs created by the open source community.

Well, you could try right-clicking the .exe, selecting the "Compatibility" tab and setting it for ME.
