If there is someone in my class, how can I tell if that person won't mind talking to me or not? What do I look for?

A "rolling of the eyes" is a good indicator that they are'nt interested.
Start a conversation and find out.
Ask, "How's your day going so far?"....(just an example)

Okay, I know this is probably not what you want to hear. Because I know you'd rather know directly. But I can't see how one can tell if another person wants to talk to her/him just by looking at a person.

What I think would work would be actually STARTING A CONVERSATION. Once that's done:

Notice if the person you're talking to answering your questions with short replies and if (s)he looks interested. But also notice if this person actually does always reply answers shortly.
