My son is 15 years old and his vision is bad, according to the Optometrist its getting worse by the year. He needs to wear his glasses 24/7. I had consider the lasik surgery for him but not sure how old you have to be in order to have lasik surgery or if his vision would get better. Any suggestions?

i am 18 yrs old and i wanted to get it done too. however after consultation from various doctors v have found out it is bet to wait till the age of 21 (u know when the body stops growing and soo does the power in your vision.) this would be better cause it would not be a good idea to get it done more than once (and as far as i know u can get it done only once cause they remove some thing to stop the nuber from increasing). so um.... yeah the best thing to do right now is to wait. also in a few years this lasik surgery technique would evolve to be absolutely flawwless and 100 % excellent results.

LASIK is recommended once the patients prescription has been stable for about two years. For boys that is usually in the early 20's.

Lasik is usually done when the vison prescription has stabilized. Since he is still a teenager, his vision is not stable. He needs to get where his eyes stop changing.

i think lasik surgery would be great for him. it seems like a really scary thing but if you find a doctor who has performed the surgery many times with success it could really improve his life. people can see better immediately after the procedure. just check your doctors credentials and the outcome of all of his other lasik procedures. good luck.

best to wait till he gets older or you'll only have to pay out more money to get it done again
