First of all, I don't think that there are any problems with tatoos and piercings, but since your parents see it differently, that changes things. We are told to obey our parents in the Bible. So my question would be what kind of example does it set to the youth if you disregard what your parents tell you to do? Also, you don't need the piercing to reach these people, the message and how you deliver it is much more important than if you have you're lip pierced. Also, you can ask God about it. Pray to Him to lead you the right way in this, and He will.
And to Sen b no they are not against our faith, it doesn't say that anywhere in the Bible

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but there are scriptures in the old testament against putting any "permanent markings on your body." As well as how your body is your temple and you use it to worship God. Do you feel you would have a holy and clean standing before God if you're all marked up and pierced? I know it's more about the inner person, who you are and what you believe. But how are you going to attract more people if you don't even look like you believe in God?
Jesus said his followers would be no part of the world, just as he was no part of the world. So true followers of Jesus should stand out, not by piercings or tattoos, but by their chaste conduct and modesty. Another thing to recall, is that we are to follow Jesus' example. Did he have tattoos or piercings? The bible doesn't mention any. Admittedly, that's no great excuse - but every person is putting off an image, whether they like it or not. What does your image say about you?

How does you having a lip piercing help you "reach more people"? Why not try living by your holy book if you want to reach more people. I'm not going to make assumptions about what book that is but I'll take a long shot and say its the bible. Tattoo's and altering your body are against your faith are they not? I know in my faith they are and i will never be getting one. How can i live by the chapters and verses of my holy book and specifically go against there teachings and see that as reaching people? I simply cant. My duty in life is to please God and live by his rules. His rules are clear about this matter and i am not going against them, no matter what my opinion on them are, he says NO! that's it. He is my creator and to preach especially impressionable youths and think I would be setting a good example.......well you do the math it just does not add up. Either live by the rules or don't there is no half way.
Putonth I suggest you read your bible a little closer, it definitely does state it.
Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you. I am the Lord.

If your going to be an effective youth pastor you must have a close personal relationship with Jesus. Ask Him what he thinks.

Tattoos are trashy and becoming a youth pastor is a big waste of time. Religion sucks.

This is much more of a perspective issue than you are seeing, I believe. I have a few tattoos but, being in sales, I keep them covered as they would not be "professional".
Unless you are aiming at a certain group of people, pastors, politicians and other "professionals" have to appear as generic as possible. Unfortunate, yes, but any deviations are bound to turn more against you than it would for you.

Screw the fact that it's anti-biblical. Lip piercing is just weird. If you want to rebel against your parents, I'd choose something less invasive. Why not become an Atheist and scare the bejesus out of them?

Do not lacerate your bodies for the dead, and do not tattoo yourselves. I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:28)
According to the Bible, tattoos are forbidden by God.
Of course, I'm sure you and your parents do many things that the Bible claims are forbidden by God. Do you or your parents have short hair? Does your father trim his beard? Here's the verse that precedes the one above:
Do not clip your hair at the temples, nor trim the edges of your beard. (Leviticus 19:27)
The best thing to do is think for yourself. Many of the ancient Biblical dictates defy common sense.

I have peircing's and tattoos. But my church loves and accepts me. There is something in the bible about changing your body with ink and stuff. So yes, according to the bible it is wrong.
