Humans are omnivores. Our bodies need animals to be healthy. We are unable to synthesize B-vitamins and some amino acids and proteins. We gain iron most efficiently from meat sources. Vegetables are plants. Plants have more complex neurological structures that we do, would that not lead us to believe that they are better able to sense illness and injury, thus FEEL pain more? Death is part of life, we kill when we eat, we kill when we wash our hands, wash our dishes, cook our food, walk. To keep us sane we need to temper our concern for other livings things and keep it to trying not to kill needlessly. Go ahead, have a burger, its good for you in moderation.

Well, morality is not universal. Each culture has their own ethical code and morality. It is, to me, immoral to impose our morality on those of a different culture. Some eastern religions especially hold that it is wrong to eat meat. Other religions do not agree- who is right?
I am a vegetarian, not because I think eating meat is immoral, but i do feel that the way in which we farm is often immoral. It is also wrong for me to try to make everyone around me see things the way I do. Some people cannot be vegetarian and be healthy. Why should they sacrifice their health?
If you feel that it is wrong for you, personally, to eat meat, then by all means, go veg. You'll sleep better. But please understand, we as a species are true omnivores. We have teeth indicative of this fact. We have eyes in the front of our heads which indicate that we are more predatory than prey. Therefore, how can it be immoral as a species for us to follow our natures? Your personal nature is another matter. You must do what is right for YOU, and respect others even if they don't do the same.
PS. Please, if you do decide to become a vegetarian, do it responsibly. Take the supplements you need to, and ensure that you get enough iron and protein. If cruelty is your concern, you might be happiest continuing to eat meat, but go with humanely kept animals who were also killed as quickly as possible. Check out Kosher meats and free range stuff.

We are in the food chain, and we only got to where we are by eating meat. Brains take a lot of energy, and meat's an excellent source of it. Humans are still animals, even if we like to pretend we're not.
If you do think meat-eating is unethical, then, by all means, go vegetarian. As long as you are careful with your diet, you'll be fine. In fact, Americans eat far too much meat, so it may even be better for you, as long as you make sure you're getting proper nutrition (pizza and multivitamins alone don't cut it!).
If you don't want to go that far, start buying free-range meat or kosher meat. Free-range chickens and cows are able to move around and aren't stuck in those awful cages. Kosher meat has to be butchered according to strict Jewish law, and the method ensures the animal dies as quickly and painlessly as possible. Depending on your area, it may be difficult to find these products. If you do decide to go free range/organic, check around on the internet. The laws on all that aren't exactly strict, and some "organic" companies are just as bad as the mainstream ones.

There is nothing wrong with eating animals. It would make you immoral if you wanted to torture the animal before you ate it. If the animal is killed in a humane way for the purpose of food it is not wrong. If you feel strongly there is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian or vegan either.

If it feels wrong to you, then by all means become a vegetarian or even a vegan. Me, I couldn't do it, I like meat too much! And I have to use leather in my line of work anyhow. But I think everyone should decide for themselves, there are many products nowadays so you can have a healthy and balanced diet without meat.

God put it all here. Being humane is important. Most carnivours that I know - want NOTHING to do with the slaughtering of their food - or even knowing about it. They think that eating meat is fine - but they want somebody else to do the killing.
Do what you will. Your heart will tell you what's right.

I believe an animal need not be killed unless for consumption or has proven to be unstable.
Animals should be killed in a quick manner, either way.
Look at your teeth...they're designed to rip and chew meat.

i was raised in arkansas and california, we killed and dressed pigs and cows right there on the farm, we would wring a chickens neck or cut it off and pluck the feathers and eat it for dinner or for the freezer,my brother s had bow and arrows and bb guns, when they shot something and killed it, my parents made them clean it them selves and we ate it, birds mainly, but they didn't kill to many of those , they were hard to clean. i worked at a hunting logde in jacksboro,tx, hunters would come up there and kill ram ,deer, elk, pheasant, quail and duck. my brothers and step dad try to get tags every year for deer season, it's in our blood and a way for life for me and my family, tradition.!
