this is not going to be easy :-( for you must find a company that will be able to hire you and sponsor you ....
Employment Authorization
U.S. employers must check to make sure all employees, regardless of citizenship or national origin, are allowed to work in the United States. If you are not a citizen or a lawful permanent resident, you may need to apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) to prove you may work in the United States.
USCIS issues Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) in the following categories:
EAD: This document proves you are allowed to work in the United States.
Renewal EAD: You should apply for a renewal EAD six months before your original EAD expires.
Replacement EAD: This document replaces a lost, stolen, or mutilated EAD. A replacement EAD also replaces an EAD that was issued with incorrect information, such as a misspelled name.
Interim EAD: If USCIS does not approve or deny your EAD application within 90 days (within 30 days for an asylum applicant; note: asylum applicants are eligible to file for EADs only after waiting 150 days from the date they filed their properly completed original asylum applications), you may request an interim EAD document.
right now it will be even more difficult :-(
not sure what to tell you?

There is a British Travel company that employes British People to work in Arizona at hte ski slopes, I don't know about Ca or NY.
I would say at your age and without any kind of useful experience you are not going to be successful at getting a work permit here, esp these days when things have tightened up. What about applying to Film School and doing that over here instead of Uni in the UK? Also there is a successful English guy here who produces Martha Stewart and the program Survivor, he came over here as a Nanny and watched fil makers kids. He is now very successful. He also produces the program the Apprentice, I know you ha ve the English version there. You could also write him for advice.

You would be better off applying to study a film studies degree in NY or CA. It´s a lot easier to get a student visa and while you´re studying you´ll be able to meet other students and make contacts with others who share your interests. You could also do an internship while you´re there that could lead to a job offer and then you could be granted a work permit. Good luck.

You will need a Green Card to work in the USA - you will need to be sponsored by a relative who is already living in the country.
UK Nurses can usually get sponsored to work in the US by the hospitals.
Suggest you view employment opportunities in the US for UK citizens to see if there is an employer who will be prepared to employ you.

A local English couple were ripped off to the tune of £250 000 by going through an american attorney and a job consultancy firm, don't trust them, they shoot our troops in the back and will take your naivity and ruin you.
