It appears my ancestors moved to Newfoundland and invented the last name Hawco when the arrived. Does anyone happen to know what they were called before they arrrived in Newfoundland? Or where they came from? I've done a bit of oline searching, but haven't found anything worthwhile.

Anything anybody knows would be interesting!

Hawco is of French origin. Some of the first European settlers in Newfoundland were of Spanish and French origin.
