Get the Ubuntu linux. They will send the disks to you by mail for free.
In addition you can burn your own CD's.

you can download the ISO files and burn them directly to cd. It may take awhile to download (a whole day) depending on which distribution you get. I suggest Ubuntu or RedHat because they have huge support and user bases, and are easy to install/setup.
