Hello, Im 19 years old, and have been have strange spells for as long as i can remember. Its very difficult to describe what is actually happening but ill try.

I will be sitting in a calm environment just keeping to myself, and I will begin to have a spell in which it seems everything around me is in fast forward, but my speed of thought is normal. But when I walk to one end of a room, a distance that might take 10 seconds, it feels like two seconds. Sounds become more defined and so does feeling. Its almost like when you see on TV a man sitting in a bench, and the world around him is flying by. Thats as close as I can describe it, except it is completely real. Please help, if you can give me any ideas as to what it might be, so that I can continue to research this "problem."

sounds like you are describing an anxiety attack. that doesnt mean you had anything startling happen to trigger it. during an anxiety attack, your body is fed a gigantic dose of life saving adrenaline, as it would if you were in an emergency and needing to take seriously quick action to save your life. easily fixed by meds from the doc.

There's a small chance it could be a neurological problem, like psycho-motor seizures but it sounds more as if you are experiencing a symptom like derealization that is often a associated with depersonalization disorder, particularly if it occurs at times when you feel a grat deal of pressure. What you may want to try to clear the symptom is to move your eyes and try not to allow yourself to become fixated on a particular spot-sometimes trance can bring about mild dissociative symptoms.

Either low blood sugar, high blood pressure, or a small seizure?

Go to the doctor.

**Thought to self... "Geeze everyone is always so quick with the assumptions of mental health issues..." it's like a trend or a club everyone want's into lately...

Maybe it's a poor diet... A lack of calcium/magnesium can make you feel like that too.

Eat a banana or an apple next time it happens and see if it helps.

I believe you are having what is known as a panic attack. I had them but am on medication now. It happens whenever sometimes and it caffiene in coffee or cokes makes it worse.Tell your Dr, they'll prescribe something for you. You don't want it to happen when you're driving or out on a date.

i agree that you should get a physical to check your heart and blood sugar. one main symptom you usually hear of panic is racing thoughts, and you say thats not the case. besides as any good therapist will tell you, always rule out physical causes before assuming psychological causes
