My soon-to-be husband and myself are heading to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia for our honeymoon next weekend. Does anyone have any reccomendations of where to eat? Our plans are to visit Arlington National Cemetary and some of the memorials in WDC, and then the Mutter Museum and Rodin Museum in Philly, so anywhere close to those places would be great.
We're not looking for anythign 5 star- we just want to really experience the best food from both places, even if it's just a mom-and-pop kind of place.
Oh- and if you know of any water-ice places near Philly that are already open this time of year, PLEASE enlighten me! I've been craving it since I left the area 4 years ago. There is nothing else around like true water-ice.
Thanks!

There are sooo many great restaurants in philly but here are a few near the Mutter:
Bistro San Tropez, great french food but a little pricey (http://www.bistrosttropez.com/)
Dibruno's for lunch, great cheese/specialty food market with a restaurant upstairs. Great stuff prepared fresh. (http://www.dibruno.com/)
Continental Midtown, funky decor, sharable dished with an Asian flare, great cool drinks(http://www.continentalmidtown.com/)
Alma De Cuba, great Cuban inspired food, cool looking space(http://www.almadecubarestaurant.com/)

Olde City, Center City, Northern Liberties...plenty more good places to try.

Are you staying in DC or Arlington? In the city, just look for a small mom&pop place on a side street as you walk around. There are some that are pretty good in DC. (I live in the area but I'm not impressed with the eateries in DC.)
In Philly, there are some nice diner type places near the Mutter. Not much near the Rodin down on the Avenue of the Arts. But a few blocks away near Logan Square there are several nice places. For the best though, go to South Street for Jim's Cheesesteaks or the Reading Terminal Market (it's closed on Sunday and Monday though) for a bit of everything. Good pretzels can be found at the carts on the street, just pick any one. Try South Street also for water ice.
Congratulations on your wedding; may you enjoy many happy years together.

Congratulations! The most romantic place in DC or Phillie is room service in your room...

But, in DC you may wish to try Cafe Mozart, the Ebbitt Grille or Legal Sea Foods (the one on K Street). All three are dowtown and easy to get to from the Metro.

Cafe Mozart is the most unique. You walk through a deli, then a bar, then to cozy little restaurant with fantastic food... It is worth it..

Ebbitts is a bit bigger and a little noisier, but you never know who will be coming or going, especially if Congress is in seesion. You won't any Senators, but you may see a Representative or two, or an officer with a couple of stars on his or her uniform ...

Legal Sea Foods is a chain, but you would never know it. I prefer the one on K Street. Ask for a booth in the corner and you two can do all the snuggling you want...

Can't help with Phillie, sorry...

Have fun and enjoy the sights...
