i agree with an earlier answer that rum and passion fruit juice are a good mix and slightly different to normal. saying that i would only recommend dark rum as white rum has little body to the taste. Being in Guyana and drinking the rum here a lot i highly recommend the local distilled el dorado, 5 or 10 year can be mixed to give a good taste.
additional ingrediants should include ginger ale/ginger drink which works a treat with rum.
lime, lemon and oranges (especially if spiced) also add a bit of zest.

Foods:
Make mini veggies skewers on toothpicks
Put various dips in bar glasses instead of bowls
Crusty breads, pickled asparagus, olives, spicy foods, nuts, chocolates (also a drink additives)

Martinis:
Fireballs or Red hots
Small chocolates (even used shaved chocolate)
Cherries (even better soak over night in brown sugar and volka, then they are loaded)

Margaritas/Pina colada
Sliced Pineapple
Madarine oranges
Other Liqueurs
