what would make a small pc with ME on it start freezing when it goes into standby?

I have a smal gateway 1400 with windows me and just the other day it started not wanting to come out of standby mode. It happened enough that it gave me a message asking if i wanted to prevent standby mode so I said yes but I want to know what would cause the mess up in the first place. Also, that same pc won't tab down when signing into yahoo oe e-bay but does on a couple of other sites. or it will tab over on some sites but not on others.

I know that this does not solve your current predicament, but when you get it sorted you should get an up to date operating system. Try UBUNTU or XUBUNTU, they are free and reliable..
