I want a typical british summer hol, ie lively bars, good weather, beach, etc but hate cheesy/dance music which I usually have to put up with on a night out, I prefer indie or rock music. where should I go which might be a little different?

Wish I could help you, guess most places in America or Australia would be great for you, I would suggest Cuba as its an amazing place with beautiful beaches but not sure if Salsa music is what your really looking for, though guess the nightclubs have your type of music, guess you could always take your iPod with you loaded with Indie and Rock then just go with the flow in the evenings bar and nightclub wise, best of both worlds that way, where ever you decide on have a brilliant time.

For a great holiday, go to Malaysia. A former British colony, English is the 2nd language, with many British traditions and heritage. It's Visit Malaysia Year and there are lots of happenings and celebrations, in addition to the whole-year-round great weather, sunny beaches, lively night life (esp. in Penang or Kuala Lumpur). There are also savings through many airlines flying into Malaysia. Malaysia, truly Asia!

are you sure you really want the kinda holiday you mentioned?? if you do then i would suggest the island of Kos, the town kardamena was immense. however the most beautiful beaches i have ever seen and the most fun i have had on holiday was cape cod, mass - its just amazing!

choose one of the big cities, then yu have got everything resturuants, bars clubs and not far to a coast for sunbathing in the day.
