My hair is always dyed black, but when my roots come in I dye them a nice rich burgundy. And the two along with pale skin makes you stand out. Trust me I am incredibly pale myself, and I get compliments all the time on my hair. only bad things is when I have to tell people two different hair color numbers and makers. lol

Highlights are the best way to go. As far as color, I always recommend the same thing; find someone who's color you admire and book an appointment with their stylist. Generally, the best people to go to are actual colorists- people who don't cut hair, but have been trained solely in coloring. They can give you the best idea on tones and shades that work best with your skin tone, because no one color works for all people. It's always best to stay within 2 shades of your natural color. Highlights and low-lights (a must for darker haired people) add depth and look more natural, versus just one flat color (there's no quicker way to "date" yourself by choosing one flat color). The initial visit my cost a pip, but high/low lights allow you to go longer between touch ups, and generally the next subsequent visits shouldn't costs quite as much. My personal opinion on burgundies (for what it's worth) is that they're pretty tacky looking. Courtney Cox, a natural dark haired woman, never looked better than when she did her hair a rich, gorgeous, glossy chocolate brown, which was probably no less than 2 shades lighter than her natural hair. Take your cues from dark haired women who's hair you like and bring their pics in to the stylist of your choice. Hope this helps!

I even have for sure dark brown-black hair, and that i used to place crimson highlights in it. It did no longer look emo in any respect, it replaced into very flattering. the only way it fairly is going to look emo is that in case you decide on for a neon crimson, like from Manic Panic. decide for organic crimson hues like auburn highlights. completely properly worth it, and it makes you look greater unique than anybody else getting blond of their hair.

I beleive that there is a hair colour for dark hair that lightens it without turning it orange. The only problem is I can't remember the company that makes it. You could try streaking it.
