I don't understand why people talk or walk in thier sleep. When I was little I used to sleepwalk and talk. I am now 20 and I have started talking in my sleep again. I didn't start sleepwalking which I think is a good thing. I want to know why we sleep talk and if thier is certain things that trigger it. Can anyone help?

Most people sleep walk and talk in their sleep when they are younger b/c they have more delta sleep which is stage 3 and 4 and in this stage you sleep walk and talk. It is more prevalence in young children and you grow out of it exactly why you don't sleep walk now. You could sleep talk for many reasons you are still young enough to have plenty of delta sleep to talk, but its most likely you get disturbed during your sleep so you fall out of a deep sleep stage 2, 3. 4, REM in stage 1 which is actually a transition stage sleep, many people do this. In REM, you are virtually paralyzed so the likely hood of you having a REM disorder is very slim.

that's a hard one to answer because my husband talks in his sleep too. Everyone says it's in your subconsience. I don't really believe that. I don't really think youre in a dream state when you sleep walk or sleep talk. I think there really is no direct answer to that.

I"m not really sure about that. And there are some people who sigh or murmur lightly or breath through their mouths noisely.
