Good looks to begin with but good character to further it successfully, to the Altar.

If a good-looking guy is a jerk, you can't really come to appreciate that.In fact, it just gets more annoying over time.
But if a not-so-great-looking guy has a great character (is fun to be with, treats you well, is someone you can respect and care about, etc) then you can come to appreciate how he looks as just part of the great guy he is.
So I say definitely, character over looks.

ok, my best friend has good looks and is a good character. he is awesome. but i think it is the good character in him that i love. so my answer probably is good character.
