Beaming up de-integrates you and then re-integrates you; it is probably more like achieving satori or being born again. You are remade with this new experience, looking and thinking almost exactly as you did before, only you have been through disintegration/reintegration, truly merged with the universe and then condensed back to human form. William Shatner/Kirk wouldn't be Jesus though; Scotty would be more my bet in this area. After all, he is a Miracle Worker (or he just multiplies his repair estimates by a factor of four).
EDIT: Jim, Spock didn't literally come back from the dead; he was reborn and remade by the Genesis effect, so it was more like he was cloned than resurrected. am I showing my Star Trek nerd roots here too much?
