I have horrible migranes!!! Whenever I lay down on my stomach for a short period of time then sit up or stand, my head begins to throb and within five minutes I have a fullblown migrane. The lights hurt my eyes and the sounds make everything worse, even when I get alone in my room the nothing-ness noise gets to me.

Is there someone wrong? Am I doing something? Should I consult a doctor? Which I have already went to and had have every single test done to me. I'm healthy but is there something deeper?

Argh it really pisses me off, I can't ride roller coasters or anything that makes me dizzy.

Help, advice?

What I find troubling with your illness is the way your headache begins. I think you should see a neurologist or maybe a cardiologist. It seems maybe blood flow to and from your head is somehow obstructed. I wouldn't wait any longer to seek treatment, even if you already seen a doc, go back or see a different one.

GET YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKED

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

I have had horrible migraine headaches for many years. My mother had them too. I remember her with a man's tie wrapped around her head to hold in the throbbing...and no pain killer worked..BECAUSE...it is vascular.....and pain killers only are a bandaid...and if used too much will cause rebound headaches...I have been to the best Migraine Headache Doctor in the field..(who also suffered from Migraine!) and after he made me stop all medicines, like aspirin, bufferin, emprim , codene...so forth...for about a month..he then gave me Caffergot and Phenergan Suppository's...to be inserted at the onset.ABSOLUTELY AT THE ONSET! The Caffergot was for the vascular part of the headache..and it also had caffine in it. and the phenergen was for nausia. However these had bad side effects...Years later they came out with Imitrex now can be gotten in shot form or pills....and I was given pills. The Caffergot and Phenergan...would put me down with such heaviness in my body and cold extremeties..I was sick with the medicines....Now the Imitrex....pills....You take one at the onset...(you must take these with you at all times...) and then if you got it in time...it took it away...if not...you could repeat dose....and then that is all you can take for a certain amount of time. Because as with any medication there are cautions. Imitrex works ...because it addresses the vascular opening and closing of the veins and it calms that down...I have not been given the Imitrex shot...however am told that this works faster then a pill.....and does a better job. It is hereditary! Mostly in women...however men do get them too. If one only takes PAIN MEDICINE....IT WILL NEVER WORK....BECAUSE....THAT IS ONLY A BANDAID..AND AS SOON AS THE PAIN MEDICINE WEARS OFF...YOU HAVE YOUR HEADACHE IN FULL BLOOM. You would be wise to see a Migraine Specialist.....My doctor was Dr. Kudrow in the Valley I think Encino California...Dr. Kudrow is the father of that actress Lisa Kudrow.....His son took over his practice and I believe is still at the same address on Ventura Blvd. His name is also Dr. Kudrow...don't know the first name...anyway....I still battle them...they lighten up as you get a little older....also they are caused or triggered by certain foods...like aged cheese, wine, nitrites, msg..and so forth. Another thing is that girls or women get migraines from hormonal changes..so it can be monthly....or more often.....but definatly more often if you only take pain medication...PAIN MEDICATION DOES NOT STOP THE THROBBING OF A MIGRAINE. I hope this helps you . Please know that this is not curable...but managable...and I can't go on coasters and that sort of thing also.....If you are under stress...you will get more migraine pain....you cannot take stresses...no negativity...if you have a boss that rides your tail...and threatens to fire you all the time...you will suffer even more headaches....Friday's I would get headaches...seemingly for no reason.....Or Monday morning ....suddenly ....then I would have to call in work sick...but more then not...I would go in with the excruciating pain...and suffer till I couldn't take it any longer...and had to go home...dark room cool and dark....and no stress....your life must be calm...if not ....it kind of makes it worse....I hope I have helped you dear one.....I know what you are going through.....I have one now.....and I have horror story from this past weekend...but won't go into that now....If you need anything else...let me know...Oh...and lay on an icepack where the pain is...it numbs the skin and does give a little relief...cool teabags on the eyelids while you rest....no Vicadin..or any of the other pain killers will not work on MIGRAINE!!!!! I would suggest you change your diet and start eating properly and drink lots of lfuids.
Next you need to exercise and take care of yourself.

Hopefully you don;t smoke cigarettes or do any drugs becasue that is bad for you.

Final, but not least if your headaches dont' go away after following my rules...you probably have a tumor.
