I need to be at 425 I St. NW at 8:00am on 3/21/07 & 3/22/07. I can only spend 188 per night on a hotel. I was planning on staying close and walking, but no hotels offer that goverment rate. Where should I stay and how would I get to my meetings. HELP, my district is offering no assistance at all...and I'm coming from DE so I was thinking about staying east of downtown and taking public trans in...

You could stay at the hotels near New Carrollton Metro Station in suburban MD. They are far less than $225 a night and you can be in downtown DC in less than 30 minutes. New Carrollton is where the Orange line subway originates.

Amtrak Regional trains go from DE to New Carrollton. You can arrive on the evening of 3/20 and leave immediately after the meetings end on 3/22 - although you have to leave from Union Station rather than New Carrollton.

The Holiday Inn mentioned by the other poster is a 3 block walk from the Orange line subway in VA. The hotels tend to be cheaper in MD and I was even going to suggest BWI Airport but that would be a little out of your way.

Did you try looking at Crystal City? It is in Arlington, VA across the river and there is a metro stop there. The rates are typically alot cheaper there (when my family comes they usually stay there). In addition, it is a really safe place to stay. I lived there for 3 years and I loved it. It is really convienent to everything in the metro area. The metro starts at 5am, so you would have to get up a little earlier but it is only a 5 minute metro to the district. Check out this website for metro info.

We were just in DC last Nov. The subway was clean and secure, even for a rural southern couple. Good luck with the room. Ours was at the Holiday Inn in Arlington, VA and cost $225.00 per night. Ouch!

it truly is as a lot because the organization how a lot they make their mileage allowance. there is no longer something to assert it may be this that or the different. So verify your settlement on your businesses clause in this. there's a ceiling of 45p yet that would not advise they could pay that. they could pay 10p a mile if absolutely everyone could settle for it!
