there is paintshop that works really well and if it is too easy there is paintshop pro here is a few download sites they are trials and there are sites that give it for free and tons of movies, games, like projectw.org which u have to sign up but its free and takes 2 secs or u can be a member and the only dif is that the downloads are faster hope it helps

I assume that you need a photo editing program yhen you want to make a slide show.
You can simply edit photos on ms paint Start -> Accessories -> Paint.
Then use Nero to make a slide show, add photos and some nice transitions you ll able to burn it as VCD or DVD, depends on your burning media.

If you are looking for open source (which is free forever and never expires), then try GIMP. But it's also complicated for a begineer. Well if you've got patience it's a cool tool and you can do a lot.....

Another program that you can use which probably no one even thinks to use is Powerpoint...you can even add sound to your pics and animation as well as text save the pictures as gif or jpg or whatever and burn to a disc as VCD or DVD....try u might be surprised
