what they mean by that is to put the butter in the bowl along with the sugar and blend until sugar is malted an butter is creamy. if you have a hand mixer is great or even better a kitchen aid. if not the old fashion way use a wooden spoon make sure the butter is soft for you would have a very hard time if butter is hard. hope that i was some help to you.
