Grace = Mercy

Grace is God's undeserved love. We are saved from sin, death and the devil. Christ does describe hell as a burning lake of sulfur. If that isn't torture than what is? I don't believe in this crap but that's what was beat into my skull since I was a little boy. Forgive me if I don't take the time to look up all the Bible references. It's just a book anyhow. By the way, the Bible as it is was put together by the Roman Emperor Constantine. He left out 20 or so gospels. So the Bible is incomplete if you ask me. I believe the early Gnostic Christians to be more on target with what Christ actually taught than these so called Christians of today.

I think grace has been handled above.

Lets look a torture and hell:
- Torture in the Bible. Lets see Paul was chained up in a Prision. Stephen was stoned. Jesus was crusified. I think those all quality as toture, and there certenly are more examples.

- Hell. Hell is not nesceesarlly fire and torture. Hell is absince of God. Did you ever here the phrase "I rains on the just and the unjust" that means that God is with believers and unbelievers on earth and protects them from Satan to a degree (the bible states that Satan is bound). In hell this will not be true. Think of all the things that sin has brought into the world. What if in hell Satan could give you kids and then have them die at his will. What if he could give you cancer over and over with no God to protect you. That is only what I can imagine, just think of the terrible things that Satan might come up with.

Grace is defined as an undeserving favor. We have all sinned therefore we all deserve death and hell, however God, out of his eternal grace, sent His son into our sinful world to pay the price for our sins. Everyone could have eternal life and that is what God wants for us yet we sinners are just to prideful to turn from our destructive lifestyles. To tell you the truth I don't know if hell is literal fire. I know that is what it is described as, but it shouldn't really make any difference. Hell is ETERNAL seperation from God...there is nothing worse. I just pray that maybe you would read the Bible more and pray to God because then you wouldn't even have to worry about hell, and I know your probably thinking how do I know all this...all I can say is read and study the Bible and all of your questions will be answered.

You are going to have to look further than yahoo answers if you sincerely want to answer these questions. An easy way to find out if something is addressed in the Bible is http://www.biblegateway.com

The people who have answered you don't care if you're trolling or not. These things are at the core of Christianity, they are what hold us together, trancending the idiotoc arguments over evolution and homosexuality.

This discussion is really about the knowledge of good and evil, something unique to human beings, symbolized by the forbidden fruit.

Grace is moronically simple. Even Christ says that children understand it. It's when God knows you're good.

There are countless references to torture of the evil in the old and new Testaments. The story of Lazarus and the rich guy was written as well as possible By Luke, who heard it from Jesus. I would also like to point out Revelations 14.

I have to go. My personal thanks to the others who answered; you made my day.

That is such a good question? Don't know why I didn't think of that. Really made me think! We were saved by the Grace of God. If we all go to heaven and no one really dies at all then why did he have to suffer and die?
Because as he said the meek will inherit the earth and live forever upon it. So the grace must mean, that is what gives us this opportunity for eternal life on earth.
WoW that just answered that question for me.

Surly you know what the word Grace means, we learn this in grade school. Grace - Mercy, Love.
As for the torture try Revelation 20:11-15. "Lake of Fire", if you can not see this as torture then I can only pray that God open your eyes.

Grace is UNmerited favor;...meaning, we don't deserve it but God will give it to us when we repent . You are right,; hell is not a forever torture. The word perish means to never ever be anymore. God wishes none of His souls/children to perish and He hope while we're in this flesh that we choose Him and His love. At the final judgement if we love the LORD and do His will, He saves us from perishing and gives us eternal life.

Grace is mercy. Jesus saves us from our sinful nature. If hell is not mourning, despair, and gnashing of teeth as the Bible says it is, then what is it? A party? It is not my fault if you refuse to listen.
