I don't want to ask my mother, because she would want to know why. I would like to go alone, but how? I know there's free clinics and stuff but where do I find one. I live in Chicago. I have one close by, but my mom works for the department of human services and the woman who works in the public health department knows me. What can I do and how can I see a doctor?? help!!

sounds like you think you might have a sexually transmitted disease. Go to another public health clinic, they have them all
over, just look in the phone book under the Cook county health department and find another one and call up and ask how you can get tested, do you need appointment, etc.
Don't delay this just because you don't want to tell your mother. It will be very private, they deal with this all the time.

Would you be willing to tell your Mom You would like her to come to the dr.'s with you but has to trust you that you have a reason for not giving her an explanation at this time. I don't know your age. If you have health Insurance is it under your Mom's name. I don't know the relationship you have with your Mom and I understand you may be embarassed or scared. Try to find a good trustful adult friend to go initially. See if there's a clinic associated with your local hospital or they could give you a list of some. good luck Also the lady that you know would be in serious trouble with her job ifshe told your Mom.

Go ahead and go to the health department anyway and when you do see a doctor tell him of your privacy concerns . Health information is private business and explain your concern about your mothers friend she knows in the public health department so the doctor can mention that she should keep quiet about it . If she doesn't contact the doctor and she will surely lose her job !

Every visit to a clinic or doctor is confidential. If that friend of your mothers told her that you went there for anything s/he could loose her job and have that on their record. I would just go. If you need to go there should be no reason your mother or anyone else needs to know. Your 18. Take the bus or a cab.

****... i have been in your situation. I dont know how old are you but at your school you can probably ask, or if you go to college, they can give you some help. If you dont drive, ask someone who can drive you there. You need a medical plan, otherwise you will have to pay a lot of money. Ask your friends where do they go, or just take a bus and wonder around the city, youll find a place. Just ask as if a friend of yours needed to know, it might help you feel better heheheh. . Good luck,,, i hope you find a place... maybe call the hospital nearest you, they probably know

You are an adult and unless your mother is your legal guardian, you can make your own decisions. You don't have to tell your mother if you don't want to. The health clinic is required by law to protect your information from people who are not involved in your treatment. You can request to the clinic that you don't want them to discuss this with your mother.

By law your mothers friend can get fired and penalized if she tells your mom. AND SHE KNOWS THAT!!! there are clinics everywhere , do a yahoo search on "Planned Parenthood" there is a patients rights manual on the internet, she would lose her job if she mentioned anything. good luck

health issues are confidential. That means that no matter which clinic you go to, no one is allowed to so much as mention that you were there, or why. If they do, they have broken the law and you can not only sue, you can have them sent to jail. Go to the clinic nearest you.

Are you going because you think you may be pregnant? I don't even know how old you are. I guess have a friend take you to one not so close by? But if you are under 18 they are allowed to release information such as pregnancy...birth control...etc...So you might as well deal with it and tell your mom...
