Is there any law or rule about separating washroom and kitchen?

I don't know of any rule but, I would say you should have a door to separate them. Laundry rms. are usually messy, esp. if you have a family. You wouldn't want people in your cheerful kitchen to see into the laundry rm. I'm glad mine's upstairs near the bedrms.
